Gabor Heves graduated with an MSc degree in Environmental Sciences and Policy from the Central European University in Hungary. He also studied at Purdue University. Since 1998, Gabor has worked for the Regional Environmental Center for Central and Eastern Europe (REC) in various positions. His main field of expertise covers sustainable urban transport and smart city development. He has developed content and has supported professional information exchange in a number of European initiatives and projects, such as ELTIS (European Local Transport Information Service), CIVITAS (an EC initiative to advance sustainable urban transport), AENEAS (sustainable mobility in an ageing society), Smart Cities Information System (the EC’s web portal for smart city demonstration projects) and SmartMove (Promoting public transport use in rural areas). Gabor has traveled widely in Europe as part of his project assignments. Besides Hungarian, he speaks English (proficient), German (proficient), Italian (medium) and Russian (basic).
