projectNordic Cycling Cities

Between 2009-2011, eleven Nordic cities collaborated on the interregional project “Nordic Cycle Cities.” The primary aim of the project was to create a solid platform for future cycling promotion in each of the 11 cities by developing a number of strategic documents that would establish political commitment and ownership of cycling promotion, ensuring that it was solidly anchored in the entire municipal organization across all disciplines. The three core documents developed in each of the 11 cities were a cycling account, bicycle strategy, and an action plan. As one of two project advisors, Marianne Weinreich was responsible for advising and guiding the cities through the entire process of developing these documents. Marianne was also in charge of disseminating project information and the website, which is also available in English.
