Day to Day
As a key member of our safety leadership team, you will apply your expertise in safety planning, proven safety countermeasures, high injury networks, the Safe System Approach, and Vision Zero to lead and advise interdisciplinary teams on a variety of safety projects. These projects will include developing Vision Zero Action Plans, local roads safety plans for diverse communities across North America. You will plan and participate in site visits and assessments, including on roadway corridors, trail corridors, and school sites, and will use data-driven analyses to make streets safer for all people, particularly those walking, rolling, and biking, as well as those communities most vulnerable to traffic safety impacts. You will lead and advise grant writing for Safe Streets and Roads for All projects, as well as safety-focused business development and proposal efforts. In addition to managing projects, you will act as a strategic advisor and mentor to other staff and will provide training and coaching to other staff to develop their safety knowledge and ensure the team is informed about emerging trends and latest safety analysis methods.
Qualifications
Required
- 10+ years of transportation planning, engineering, or design experience
- Expertise in multimodal safety and Federal Highway’s Safe System Approach
- Experience developing regional and local roadway safety plans or Vision Zero action with proficient knowledge of countermeasure development and assignment, safety analytics, equitable engagement, and safety policies/programs
- Demonstrated experience as a project manager leading projects at a variety of scales
- Safety-focused business development experience including public speaking, proposal development, and strategic pre-marketing communication
- Ability to lead and contribute to multiple projects and complete tasks at a high level of quality
- Desire to lead and collaborate with multidisciplinary teams and provide company-wide safety trainings
- Effective oral and written communication skills
- Proficient with Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
- Bachelor’s degree
Preferred
- Basic understanding of ArcGIS Pro, Adobe Illustrator, InDesign, and/or Acrobat
- Ability to prepare graphics and maps
- Master’s degree in planning or related field
- Consulting experience
- AICP or PE
- Membership in a professional practice organization
- *RSP (Roadway Safety Professional) Certification (strongly preferred)*

Compensation
The pay range for this job in Baltimore is $100,000-$124,600 annually. Placement within the range is based upon experience, skill-sets, and qualifications.
