COVID-19 Crisis: Alta’s Response

Alta’s core mission is to create active and healthy communities. During the present COVID-19 public health crisis, we are as committed as ever. Not only have we limited in-person meetings and pivoted our workplaces to emphasize best practices in social distancing, we are already using technology to link our staff, clients, and communities together in a time when people may feel isolated. As a company with offices across North America, we are equipped to work remotely, so Alta staff are doing this with minimal service interruption.

At the same time, we acknowledge that this is going to have a major impact on food availability for those who already struggle with food insecurity. There will also be many people negatively impacted by this crisis who have not needed food bank services before but may very likely need them now. With this in mind, Alta is issuing a Fight Hunger Challenge.

Within Alta, for every $1 in employee donations to a food bank organization, we will be providing a matching donation. And we encourage everyone out there to join us in supporting their local food banks to help those who will be most impacted.

In the meantime, things are changing rapidly from day to day, and we are doing as much as we can to follow public health guidance of social isolation to reduce the spread of the virus. Alta has taken the following measures to protect our employees and clients:

  • Implemented companywide office closures and Mandatory Work From Home until further notice. We have established “Virtual Work Spaces” and we will be working as usual to best serve our clients.
  • All travel is cancelled and all in person meetings have been moved to virtual.
  • Working with our clients on alternative public outreach techniques including digital and virtual engagement, created by Alta’s in-house web developers.
