Our people make the difference.

Kathleen McKernin, PLA

Originally from Chicago, I relocated to California a few years after graduating from University of Illinois, Chicago, with a degree in graphic and industrial design. I worked for a number of years in the exhibit business, designing interactive museum exhibits and tradeshows. Once I landed in L.A. I worked in the film industry in the art department as a designer and art director. Later, I graduated from the UCLA Extension Landscape Architecture program, in 2006. In 2010 I was licensed by the State of California as a Landscape Architect.

“I love how design affects and shapes our lives. Good design applies to a wide swath of disciplines. My career path has always involved using design to solve problems, create interesting ways to get a message across and generate interactions. As a landscape architect I find working to help find creative solutions to some of our current environmental and social issues is extremely gratifying.”
