Our People Make the Difference

Stephanie Garcia

Growing up in Colombia, my primary way of moving was walking, taking transit, and biking. This helped me realize how important it is to have multiple transportation options. My passion is to assist and encourage communities to plan cities that are accessible for everyone! I love helping communities become places where people can access transportation options easily, feel safe when biking, walking, driving, and trust their public transportation system.

Stephanie has a background in Civil Engineering and Urban Planning. She brings over eight years of experience working on mobility projects including Complete Streets, community engagement and outreach efforts, design and policy guidelines, grant applications, bike and pedestrian plans, tactical urbanism, and walking audits. Prior to joining Alta, Stephanie established the Tactical Urbanism and Walking Audits program for the Metropolitan Planning Organization in Broward – the Walking Audits program received a recognition from the Federal Highway Administration safety office as a Vision Zero noteworthy practice.
