Alta was retained by the City of Guadalajara, Mexico to collaborate with government and NGO partners in the development of the Guadalajara Non-Motorized Urban Mobility Master Plan. The Non-Motorized Urban Mobility Master Plan guides the future development and growth of Guadalajara’s non-motorized transportation network to improve safety, increase physical activity, improve the environment and provide affordable transportation.
A major goal of this plan was to encourage the development of a unified non-motorized transportation system throughout Guadalajara that serves the needs of people for transportation and recreation, promotes sustainable development and provides for connections to activity centers and transit facilities. The plan’s emphasis was on the development of an urban bikeway network, but it also included pedestrian improvements and connections to the transit system. The plan will build upon the successful efforts by the City, Guadalajara 2020, and other partners.
