Alta conducted a 4-day design charrette for the City of Dublin, Georgia to explore the potential of an underutilized community asset: the Oconee River.
Working with the city staff, our landscape architects and planners envisioned how the city core could connect to the river and proposed park through on street and off street bike and pedestrian trails. By connecting to this natural asset, the City will be able to leverage the new River Park as a local and regional destination, while encouraging economic development.
By working with the property owners and local stakeholders to develop a number of alternatives through hand drawings and photo simulations, the team was able to refine ideas until consensus was achieved. The public had multiple opportunities to participate in the design process, including: stakeholder meetings, drop-in design sessions, booths at local events including First Friday and the farmers market, social media, and a project website.
