Alta partnered with Google to create the Google Bike Vision Plan. The Plan looked at bicycle travel differently – specifically what it is like to bicycle in Northern Santa Clara County today and what bicycling could be like with lower stress bicycling facilities.
At its Mountain View headquarters, Google wants to double the number of employees who ride bikes to work from 10% to 20%. The Silicon Valley Bicycle Coalition and Alta partnered with Google to create the Google Bike Vision Plan, a new look at what it’s like for people riding bikes in northern Santa Clara County today and what the region could look like with 8-to-80 bike networks.
Alta developed a vision for a network of commuter bikeways throughout the northern part of Silicon Valley, providing access to the North Bayshore area of Mountain View. The Bike Vision Plan was coordinated with neighboring cities, the Santa Clara Valley Transportation Authority, and the Metropolitan Transportation Commission. Ultimately, the Vision Plan and the process of developing it will foster inter-agency collaboration.
Alta completed a wide range of investigative, policy, programs, planning, design, and engineering services related to the Bike Vision Plan, with the ultimate goal of increasing the number of employees who choose to walk or bike to work.
