Alta was part of a team that provided land use and transportation technical analysis for the regional transit agency to better link multiple transit programs in Charlotte. Alta initiated using mobility hubs to provide multiple benefits to the City and transportation system.
The team evaluated potential corridors, alignments, and operational plans, including the blue line extension, Gold Line streetcar, and Silver Line, to develop recommendations for integrating these services in Center City Charlotte and to support the Charlotte Gateway Center, the future Charlotte Gateway Station, and future city center development. Mobility hub recommendations combine transit, shared mobility options, and active transportation to create site-specific and linear hubs, giving the City the opportunity to capitalize on highly accessible and populated areas to support new development. They provide organization and easy transfers for the transit system, encouraging more ridership, and allows for coordination of mobility operators.
