Alta is partnering with the City of Palm Desert, the local school district, and a senior community center to develop a Vision Zero Strategy focused on eliminating traffic fatalities and ensuring safer streets for students, seniors, and all residents.
Alta is working closely with the City of Palm Desert, the local school district, and a senior community center to develop a comprehensive Vision Zero Strategy—a transformative effort to eliminate traffic-related fatalities and create safer streets for everyone. This initiative will focus on two key areas: Safe Routes to School and Safe Routes for Seniors, ensuring safe travel for students, older adults, and all residents.
The Alta team has engaged residents through virtual and in-person workshops, pop-up events, and on-the-ground safety assessments across eight public schools and three senior priority areas. These efforts are shaping improvements that align with community needs and experiences.
The Vision Zero Strategy will also position Palm Desert to qualify for future Safe Streets and Roads for All (SS4A) Implementation Grants, helping secure resources for long-term change. To further enhance public involvement, Alta is supporting a multimedia engagement campaign that will promote safe, active travel and inspire the community to embrace more sustainable ways of moving through the city.
