Our people make the difference.

Mae Hanzlik

Mae’s background is in public health and transportation. Prior to joining Alta in 2023, Mae was a Senior Program Manager at Smart Growth America, where she managed technical assistance, conducted research, and organized initiatives for the National Complete Streets Coalition, Transportation for America, and the Arts & Culture program for over five years. Before that, she worked at the Bicycle Alliance of Minnesota as the project coordinator for their Bikeable Community Workshops. Mae has a master’s degree in public health from Johns Hopkins University and a bachelor’s degree from the University of Minnesota.

“One of my core beliefs is that an equitable and safe transportation system—one where people can walk, roll, transit, and thrive—is possible. I'm humbled to have the opportunity to work in partnership with communities to help achieve that future.”
