Driven by innovation and emerging technology, new mobility services bring new opportunities to help city residents and visitors get around. If managed properly, new mobility can help meet city mobility, climate, and equity goals. Alta worked with the Portland Bureau of Transportation (PBOT) to produce a New Mobility Snapshot report, which provides takeaways that can inform how Portland and other cities can pivot toward a post-COVID future for mobility.
The report, which was created by Alta’s visual communications team, shows that local regulation and safeguards, and in some cases public-private partnerships, are critical factors that determine whether these options serve the community and reduce congestion or contribute to disparities and cause more pollution. In the face of rapid change, Portland aims to leverage this data and the potential of new mobility services to create a greener, more equitable transportation system.
