Alta is leading a team of consultants in the design and construction of the Atlanta BeltLine Westside Trail Segment 4. Segment 4 will close a 1.3 mile gap in the Atlanta BeltLine, providing access to businesses, parks, schools, public transportation, and other community needs. All segments of the Atlanta BeltLine include high quality, low maintenance materials such as stainless steel railing, LED lighting, fiber optic duct bank, 14-foot-wide concrete tread, green stormwater infrastructure, and an extensive native plant palette. For Westside Segment 4, about 30% of the project is being built on structure to accommodate steep conditions and very limited access. The design team used elegant, curvilinear forms for the bridges to maximize experience and remain consistent with the BeltLine fit and finish since many aspects of the bridges will be visible from the neighborhoods along the corridor.

A commitment to resilient design and sustainable development was a top priority for Segment 4. During design, the team explored green stormwater infrastructure, including large bioswales and regenerative stormwater conveyance swales with native vegetation, an extensive tree protection plan, use of vendors within a 300-mile or less radius, and the use of green technology for concrete production on the project’s structures and flatwork.

The project broke ground in March of 2023 and reached completion in 2025.
