Join us in Minneapolis May 12-15, 2026 for NACTO’s 14th Designing Cities Conference! We’re looking forward to being in the company of 1,000+ people and partners passionate about advancing the state of transportation in North America.
For Alta, this conference is especially meaningful because of our deep roots in the Twin Cities and our long-standing partnership with communities and agencies throughout Minnesota. Over the years, Alta has helped shape some of the region’s most impactful active transportation and safety initiatives, including the MnDOT Safe Routes to School (SRTS) Planning Assistance Program, the MnDOT Vulnerable Road User Assessment, the MnDOT Bicycle + System Plan, statewide Active Transportation Planning efforts, the Saint Paul Capital City Bikeway and the Saint Paul Pedestrian Plan. These projects reflect our shared commitment to creating safer, more connected, and more accessible streets for people of all ages and abilities.
Alta also has deep ties with NACTO itself. As a longtime partner and contributor, Alta helped shape the influential NACTO Urban Bikeway Design Guide, which transformed how cities across North America design protected bikeways, multimodal corridors, and safer streets for cyclists and micromobility users. Other collaborations include the 2022 Designing for Small Things with Wheels working paper, which helps ensure bikeway design guidance keeps pace with emerging technologies and evolving user needs, and the 2022 Shared Micromobility Permitting, Process, and Participation working paper.

We’re excited to continue those conversations in Minneapolis and showcase the incredible momentum happening across the Twin Cities region. Here’s who’s coming from Alta, along with more information on the bike ride organized by the City of St. Paul, which ends at our Happy Hour hosted in partnership with Cyclehoop!
