Accessibility for Ontarians with Disabilities Act as it relates to Transportation Guidance
Monday, June 10, 2024 | 10:30 a.m. – 11:00 a.m. EDT
The Ontario Traffic Council (OTC) is preparing a resource to be used by municipal transportation engineers, planners, technologists and maintenance staff in the planning, design, and implementation of accessible transportation. The term ‘accessible transportation’ comes directly from the OTC scope and is an example of the ways in which we as practitioners, attempt to find appropriate terminology to describe what we are seeking to address. In this context, the OTC is working towards addressing accessibility and universal design within the framework of transportation engineering and planning projects. The OTC has heard from its members that municipalities are interpreting legislation and available information inconsistently in the application of accessible design, planning, and implementation.
