The updated plan includes an access analysis which visualized and quantified how building out the recommended Core Bicycle Network would expand low-stress bicycle access to parks, jobs, schools, and transit. For example, 84% more people would have access to a school within a 15-minute bicycle ride after the improvements.
The resulting plan will serve as a roadmap for the City as it prioritizes infrastructure investments and advances policies that support a safe, accessible, and connected multimodal network. Ultimately, the Trails and Open Space Connectivity Plan will help Chesapeake create a dynamic system of trails and open spaces that enhances mobility, recreation, and quality of life for all users.
