Collaborating with local stakeholders, Alta set out to shape seven key corridors with a bold mission: to rethink and reimagine roadways into spaces that prioritize people, safety, and accessibility.
The project took a deep dive into the City’s existing roadway conditions, including an analysis of five years of crash data, identifying critical areas for improvement. Through public input and concept development, Alta refined ideas into actionable designs that emphasize low-stress, people-centered infrastructure.
Residents of Reno were given a voice, engaging directly through a project website where they reviewed and shared feedback on corridor concepts, ensuring that the final designs reflect the community’s vision for safer, more welcoming streets.
The project’s success culminated in a significant win for the community, with the RTC securing nearly $10 million in SS4A funding—an investment that will turn these plans into real, life-saving improvements. This initiative isn’t just about redesigning streets; it’s about transforming Reno into a safer, more connected place to live, work, and explore.
