Alta Leads Redesign for 7th Street Connection Project in Oakland, Focused on Improved Access and Safety

Alta is serving as the primary consultant for Outreach and PS&E (Plans, Specifications, and Estimates) services for the 7th Street Connection Project in the City of Oakland. This initiative involves a comprehensive redesign of the corridor, introducing features like separated bike lanes, landscape enhancements, transit islands, upgraded curb ramps and sidewalks, signal upgrades, and protected intersection elements stretching from Mandela Parkway to Martin Luther King Jr. Way. The project’s significance lies in its unique outreach and design considerations, as it proposes alterations to a major access route between Downtown and the Port of Oakland. Additionally, it aims to enhance bicycle and pedestrian access to the West Oakland BART station, connecting with other bicycle infrastructure projects along Mandela Parkway, Market Street, and Martin Luther King Jr. Way in Oakland.
