Alta's Innovative Corridor Concepts Enhance Downtown Reno's Roadways with Public Input and Low-Stress Designs
Alta, building upon previous local endeavors in the City of Reno, embarked on a project to refine and develop corridor concepts for seven distinct corridors within downtown Reno. The primary objective was to assess the feasibility of these concepts and gather valuable feedback from the public regarding the proposed corridor designs. A comprehensive evaluation of the existing roadway conditions, including an analysis of five years’ worth of crash data, was conducted as part of this initiative. Utilizing this assessment, Alta devised a project concept aimed at creating roadways that prioritize the well-being of pedestrians and cyclists through the implementation of low-stress facility designs. The corridor concepts were made accessible for public review and feedback at www.downtownrenomicromobility.com, enabling Reno residents to express their preferences and provide comments on their favored corridor design.
