Alta led the development of an economic impact report and master plan for a 70-mile, three-county trail project in northern Alabama. The Singing River Trail is a long-distance trail that connects Huntsville, Madison, Decatur, and Athens, Alabama.
The trail connects residents in the region and serves as a tourist attraction for visitors. The trail is themed with Native American history and seeks to connect people to destinations. Alta developed a Master Plan for the Singing River Trail that identifies routing, trail surface types, trail connections, cost estimates, funding mechanisms, and implementation and operations guidance, as well as a health and economic impact report to understand the financial impact on the region.
To coincide with the release of the Master Plan, Alta produced and launched a custom storymap microsite designed to showcase the Trail’s unique features, amenities, context, and benefits for stakeholders and the general public, highlighting its potential as a regional recreation and tourism corridor and a source of community health and economic benefits. The storymap incorporates the project’s custom branding, photography, illustration, infographics, and animation to create a compelling experience for visitors familiar with the planning process as well as those new to the project.
