The previous manual was a valued resource used by local and state staff, however, it did not reflect the current state of practice and innovation in bicycle facility design. MnDOT staff compiled ideas on content updates, and Alta took these ideas and developed a framework for the updated Bikeway Facility Design Manual. Alta worked with MnDOT staff to refine a template that is easy to navigate and provides comprehensive and concise information. The team developed an iterative process that allowed for staff and stakeholder input at key points in the manual development. This approach allowed Alta to tailor the final manual so it is usable and reflects input from a wide variety of stakeholders.
